Chris built this business on faith. He left the dealership in 2006 — everything he knew and felt comfortable with — and took a step into the unknown.

At the dealership, Chris was great at what he did. He was so efficient that he could balance working on several vehicles at the same time, and the leaders there knew exactly who he was.

When he was given the opportunity to start his own shop and make it the way he wanted it to run, he was able to take what he had learned — what worked and what didn't — and apply it to this new venture. He did not take a single customer from the dealership. He didn't even tell any of them where he was going. He wanted to start fresh.

The first year, he served as Operations Manager for a steel construction business, setting their unused shop into a self-sustaining operation. He completed that task ahead of schedule, then moved into running his own independent repair shop.

Word of mouth spread quickly. Chris was running a successful shop in a small two-bay building hidden behind an office building in an industrial park — if you didn't know he was there, you wouldn't just happen to find him.

Within a few years he knew it was time to stand on his own. Through much prayer and faith, Chris stepped out again — and God provided not only a successful repair business, but his own building and his own way of doing things.

In April 2020, Chris purchased a piece of land that had been empty for years. During one of the most unusual years for most businesses, he built a large blue building and moved in April 2021. From the days of just Chris, his brother, and his wife — to now leading a staff of 10 technicians.

Pro Motors has grown into a new type of shop with no real comparison. It runs like a dealership but with the personal care of a family business. Chris doesn't suggest repairs unless they're actually needed. He pays his technicians in a way that doesn't create an overly competitive environment. The shop carries the latest industry tools and software for all vehicle types — from oil changes to major engine and transmission work, to full ADAS calibration.

Chris is unique in that he doesn't see himself in competition with other shops. He believes there's enough business for everyone. He strives to be the best in everything he takes on, keeps his techs current on repair techniques and tools, and mentors other shops that want to do things the right way.

Chris became known as the Car Doctor because of his passion to not only fix a vehicle, but to educate customers on why repairs are needed and how things work. His commitment to honesty and integrity has earned him a reputation that goes well beyond Columbus.
